That was my assignment... yeah. 'Do a significant drawing.' Excerpts from write-up because I can't figure out what to say:

'I was unsure under what circumstances I could declare anything "significant." Because the qualifications for significance are infinite and varied, I decided that this assignment was asking for any drawing I could justify. I think this vague – and frustrating – perimeter was meant to force an investigation of intention.'

'This drawing could be a condensed and elaborate sketchbook page. It is angles and views for a 3-dimentional object that I have begun building twice, in different mediums, but not completed. I know its scale and I can see the space it would take up – and I am convinced that I do want it to take up this space – but I suspect it will continue turning about around in my head until I make it to my satisfaction. At the moment, this violin/animal/vessel thing is the only form I feel able to come back to, which is why I keep trying to make it. I think this is the way projects should develop – over time and through many sketches and versions, failed and not. [i don't know why i said this. i sound as if i think it's an original thought, but i know it's nothing of the sort. well, whatever.] The persistence of an idea should prove that it is worth meddling with and ultimately bringing to a conclusion.'

That is fairly awful writing. I'm sorry.
